Stronger Families Programme
Our Strong Families Programme provides targeted and intensive support for children and their families who may benefit from additional guidance, connection, or early intervention. Support is offered based on individual needs rather than funding criteria or disadvantage measures. We recognise that any family may face challenges, changes, or circumstances that impact a child’s wellbeing, behaviour, or development and we believe every family deserves access to the right support at the right time.
Through close partnership working, professional expertise, and strong multi-agency
collaboration, the Strong Families Programme helps families to:
- Strengthen relationships and routines at home and in the setting.
- Access timely support and specialist advice where needed.
- Develop confidence and strategies to promote their child’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Build resilience and independence through consistent, compassionate guidance.
Our aim is to create a culture of early help, empowerment, and inclusion, ensuring every family feels supported, respected, and equipped to help their child thrive.
Who We Support
Our stronger families programme is here for children and families who may benefit from a little extra support at different times in their early learning journey.
This may include families who are:
- Managing changes, challenges, or additional pressures at home or in daily routines.
- Supporting a child who is developing at their own pace or may need extra time and
guidance in some areas of learning.
- Experiencing difficulties with behaviour, communication, or emotional wellbeing.
- Navigating health, developmental, or social needs that may affect a child’s confidence or progress.
- Looking for advice, reassurance, or strategies to help their child thrive both at home and in the setting.
Our focus is on early, positive support — working together with families to strengthen confidence, build connections, and celebrate every child’s achievements and potential.
Implementation
We work in genuine partnership with families, offering early and sustained support that meets their individual needs. Practitioners share professional expertise through regular communication, signposting, and shared strategies that strengthen the home–setting connection.
Our approach focuses on four key principles:
- Empower – Encouraging families through shared ideas, small steps, and positive
reinforcement.
- Support – Providing tailored help for children’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Connect – Linking families with the right people, services, and opportunities for additional support.
- Share – Using our professional expertise to offer guidance and build family confidence in supporting their child’s learning journey.
Ongoing reflection, training, and collaboration ensure practice remains responsive, inclusive, and
of the highest quality.
