About Us
St. Peters Day Nursery is a purpose-built setting that provides care for children aged 4 months to 5 years. Children are taught across three classrooms, which include access to an outside play environment. We serve the local community and are open Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm. We offer full-time and part-time places and accept the 15 and 30 hour funding for those who are eligible.
We welcome children with particular needs and difficulties and for whom English is an additional language. We work in partnership with our parents, achieving this by listening and acting upon our discussions, ensuring the child's individual needs and requirements are fully met. Effective observations and assessments ensure that the child's voice is paramount in our planning.
Our practitioners "hear" what they say and provide stimulating, attractive and inspiring activities and areas within the setting for the children to investigate, learn and take appropriate risks. The learning environment is ever evolving to meet the current interests and needs of the children.
Babies (0-2)
In our baby room, we focus on strong attacheents, early communication and sensory exploration. Everyday routines such as feeding, sleeping and nappy changing are viewed as rich learning opportunities. Our calm nurturing environment and emotionally attuned practitioners provide babies with the secure foundation they need for independence, curiosity and confidence.
Toddlers (2-3)
For our toddlers, learning builds on the secure attachments formed in the baby room. We focus on developing language, independence and early friendships through purposeful play and exploration. Our curriculum is responsive to the children's interests, promoting problem-solving, self-expression and confidence while introducing early literacy, mathematics and self-care skills.
Pre-school (3-5)
Our preschool curriculum develops children's communication, reasoning and collaboration. Through hands-on story telling and investigation, children become confident, creative and resilient learners. Outdoor Learning
All of our classrooms have access to an outside space. Outdoor learning is critical to child development, as it reduces stress and helps to develop gross motor skills. We have made our gardens increasingly accessible by installing 'outdoor classrooms' meaning children can remain outside, staying dry, despite bad weather.
Health & Safety
At St. Peters Day Nursery, health and safety is paramount in our practice and policy making.
On recruitment we follow the 'safe recruitment guidelines', outlined by Ofsted. Staff hold both certificates in food & hygiene and paediatric first aid, enabling them to maintain high safety standards during every day practice.
Additionally, employees carry out regular fire safety training and drills to reduce risk. We are also pleased to share that we have been awarded a 5 star rating in food hygiene by the Environmental Health Agency.
We support children and families with maintaining healthy lifestyles, including healthy eating and oral hygiene. This is reinforced through external visits from industry professionals.
