Curriculum
Our curriculum is not static. It is continually developed through a responsive curriculum cycle that is rooted in knowing our children, their families and their prior experiences.
We believe that evert child deserves the best possible start in life. Our curriculum brings the EYFS 2025 statutory requirements to life through play, exploration and rich experiences that enable all children to learn, develop and thrive. By putting our curriculum into practice every day, we ensure that every child can access all seven areas of learning in a way that reflects their unique needs, interests and stage of development.
Our curriculum reflects our shared values, pedagogy, and what we want children to know, understand and be able to do. Through skilful implementation - how we interact, model and plan the environment - we translate our intent into meaningful experiences that excite curiosity, encourage independence and promote a love of learning.
We use our knowldege of each child to plan and adapt experiences that help them make progress across the prime and specific areas of learning. By evaluating the impact of our curriculum, we can clearly see what children have learned, what they are ready to learn next, and where additional support or challenge is needed. This helps us to narrow gaps and celebrate progress for every child, ensuring equality and inclusion.
We know that children learn best when learning continues beyond the setting. By evaluating and sharing the impact of our curriculum with parents, we help understand how play and everyday experiences contribute to their child's development. We use 'cultural capital' forms with families to gather valuable information about each child's experiences, interests, knowledge and skills. This help us to identify strengths, gaps and areas for enrichment, enabling us to plan purposeful NEXT STEPS that are truly individualised and meaningful.
These conversations and shared insights allow us to celebrate what children already know and do, while also recognising what they have yet to experience. Our strong partnerships with parents create a consistent approach, ensuring children feel valued, supported and celebrated both at home and in nursery.
NEXT STEPS
At our setting, we idenitfy NEXT STEPS for each child as part of our bespoke curriculum to support their ongoing learning journey. These NEXT STEPS are carefully planned to build on each child's prior knowledge, skills and interests, ensuring that learning is meaningful, relevant, and appropriately challenging.

To support children in achieving these NEXT STEPS, we break them down into smaller, incremental components. Each component represents a focused skill, experience, or piece of knowledge that builds towards the wider goal. By mastering each component, children develop confidence, deepen understanding, and gain the competence needed to successfully achieve their overall target. This structured yet flexible approach enables practitioners to recognise and celebrate progress at each stage, providing timely support or challenge as needed.

It also allows children to experience success frequently, which nurtures motivation, resilience and a positive approach to learning. We share each child's NEXT STEPS and their related components with parents and carers. This joined-up approach ensures that everyone supporting the child has a shared understanding of their learning journey. Working in partnerships helps to create consistency across home and the setting, enabling children to make sustained progress and achieve their full potential.
